Interpreting Services

Interpreting services include consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, as well as court interpretation.

Consecutive interpretation

What is consecutive interpretation and when is it suitable to use this type of interpretation?

This type of interpretation is useful on occasions such as meetings with foreign partners, business negotiations, and trips abroad.
Consecutive interpretation is characterized by obligatory pauses the speaker has to make so the translator can organize the translation into meaningful segments and relay it to the audience. As a rule, the pauses are small. The translator starts forming the translation during the speaker’s address and uses the pauses to complete it. Translation skills are very important for consecutive interpretation which demands special preliminary preparation, but not as thorough as with simultaneous interpretation. Therefore, it is desirable but not crucial for the interpreter to be familiar with the subject matter beforehand.
This type of interpretation is very effective for “mobile” events involving a lot of movement and travel. It is usually ordered for occasions and gatherings with fewer participants.

Simultaneous interpretation

What is simultaneous interpretation and when is it suitable to use this type of interpretation?

Simultaneous interpretation is the most intense and demanding type of translation. It is a special kind of oral translation in which the interpreter delivers the translation simultaneously with the speaker of the original text. Therefore, there is no need to pause between semantic segments to allow the interpreter to deliver the translation. (This means there are no interruptions and you can have the undivided attention of your listeners and avoid situations when the participants who understand the language of the speaker react before those who do not, which is unacceptable, and sometimes can even appear comical.)
This type of interpretation is used at large-scale events with many participants and, as a rule, in large conference halls, where the voice of the interpreter would be inaudible or when the status of the event demands simultaneous interpretation.
With this type of interpretation it is crucial for the interpreter to be acquainted with the topic beforehand. As simultaneous translation is very intense and demanding, the rotation of interpreters in 30 minute intervals is a vital necessity for a quality translation.
If you do not possess equipment required for simultaneous interpretation, we will provide it to you and make sure it is adapted to your venue and functions properly.

Also, we can provide our clients with the professional audio and video recording of the event.

Technically, simultaneous interpretation is executed by using special equipment (headsets, a special transmitter, microphones, a booth with the equipment for the interpreter, video surveillance etc.).

Court interpretation

In which cases is the presence of a court-appointed translator necessary?

When a person who doesn’t speak Serbian needs to sign a contract, an authorization, attend court proceedings, in order to incorporate a company, a representative office of a foreign company etc., as well as for the purpose of finalizing marriage between foreign citizens, it is necessary to have a court-appointed interpreter/translator present to confirm with his/her presence and stamp the authenticity of the statement or document being signed.
